To say I am busy would be a gross understatement.
The EP is about 3/4 mixed. It's sounding great, the live cello really helped the mixes come to life in a way our previous work has not. I guess the next logical step is to buy an old Rhodes Piano and play all of that live. There is a significant amount of guitar on this record as well. But it's Wade-style somewhere beyond ambient guitar.
In the last 2 days I have, in addition to mixing myself into a near coma, designed and printed tour posters, designed and ordered USB flash drives, designed the art for our record, designed and ordered a godload of Atomica Project shirts and stickers. Speaking of photos (i know, that made no sense) - there is a strong possibility our favorite photographer, Peter Boysen, will be joining us on the road to document the trip. We're thrilled to have him and we hope he doesn't get a better offer before then.
This EP, when it does come out, should be available for download in our store. You should also take note that the remaining original Atomica shirts are on serious sale right now, as are the first 2 CD's. Like fire sale, 1/2 off. We're padding the very depleted accounts right now in order to pull this tour off. If you've been waiting for the right time to pick up one of our records - now is that time. This sale will go on for a very limited time, so buy now. It will really help us out in this time of great tour money need. More scatterbrained info - we will be selling a limited edition flash/usb drive version of the new EP at the shows. It will only be available AT the shows.
What else. I mixed an iScintilla track this week. Good lord, Brittany has come a long way since the last record. It was a pleasure to record her with my fancy new ribbon mic. And it looks like we're gearing up to do a new iScintilla record over the next few months. I leave you with a very nice photo of Lauren.
Sometimes, good things happen to okay people. Yesterday, I met Lauren's friend Sophie. Sophie plays the cello so beautifully that I'm having trouble mixing the songs and instead just sitting around listening to her takes.
A short interview with The Deli Chicago.
