That's right. Tour. Here are some dates for you -
There may be another date added. We're trying to get show in Philadelphia on Sunday. If you read this and know someone who may be interested in booking us, please contact me. So far, getting a Phili show has been eerily similar to the Detroit experience. Detroit booking people, by mandate, only book terrible music and don't really want anyone new playing in their town. I'm kidding. Sort of. If you're in Detroit, I'm sorry. You should seriously look into moving.
Is the name of our new EP. We tracked the vocals yesterday, as evidenced by this photo. I've been up most of the night mixing. And now I'm mixing some more. Yay.
No, not Myspace, but My Space.
Back when I was a young whipper snapper, 21-22ish, I started a recording studio in a historic Seattle movie theater. Catherine and I renovated the entire thing ourselves, I built soundproof rooms for vocals, drums, and a great control room. We were going all out. After a few months of realizing that everyone in Seattle was either a. high b. stupid or c.both, plus an incident where I had a gun pulled on me - we packed it in. I simply wasn't cut out for the business part of business. We were young and I won't hesitate to say stupid. We lost a lot of money. People who cared about us and shared this great ambition I had lost a lot of money too. It's something I'll never quite live down, as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, since that day I've worked out of bedrooms to minimize risk. I've gotten a zillion times better at everything I do including dealing with people and not being a 20 something moron. But now we've hit a wall. It's not such a good idea for me to be working, sometimes late at night, on music in our current residence. We own this place as do our neighbors. Noise is a real consideration. In the big picture, if I'm going to expand on what I already do, a space outside our house is essential.
I made that a reality earlier today by getting my own studio space outside of the house. It's a cute little 300 square ft. room, but a big step up from where I work now. The rent is reasonable and the potential is there. I'm nervous and still really gun shy from the last time I had my own space, but it's clearly time to move on. I'll post some photos once I get it all fixed up and nice like.
Aural Bliss has named Gravity number 12 in 50 Most Blissful tracks of 2008 countdown. Badass. Cool station and cool to be named in a top 50 on such a diverse station.
