A lot of thought has gone into the why part of doing this small tour.
1. It's small. 6-9 dates. In my world, that's barely even a tour. It's a jaunt. The last tour I did with U.S.S.A. and Chemlab was around 32 dates. The tour before that with SMG and CA was like a gazillion dates. Or 56, something like that.
2. People need to see us live. I'll pat myself on the back for the approach I've taken with translating this into a live show. I'll of course, pat Corey and Dean on the back even more since their actual execution is what gets it done. I like this band. I won't be sitting in the back of the van snarling at everyone or driving 96 mph and chain smoking. I like these people.
3. You really, really, really need to hear Lauren's voice live. I don't think I've ever walked into a small club and heard someone like her onstage. You will be moved, surprised, and all sorts of other adjectives. Sometimes i just drift off onstage and listen to her. Hopefully I'm not missing any bass notes.
4. We can't just sit around here forever. With Atomica Project moving towards our 4th year of existence - it's about time people start noticing us. After the moderate live fast die young success of CA, I've learned to be much more methodical and patient. But really, we feel like people need to hear this and it's about time to start putting some real work into that.
That's all. Enjoy this picture of a map.
We took Adat, our 16 year old cat, to the vet today. After confirming that he was, in fact, completely senile - we had him euthanized. He's spent the last 2 weeks constantly stalking me. Or hunting me would be a better word. Nevertheless, it was very sad and difficult for us. Catherine had to keep an eye on Ella, I had to stay there with my old, dying cat. Yes, I cried. It was a man cry, but I cried. He's been a great cat for a long time.
The only positive to come from this is that we are now petless. We have absolutely no intention of getting a pet anytime soon - or until Ella wants one. If she asks for a dog, I'm going to send her off to a far away boarding school that will reprogram her to not like dogs. I'm kidding, but there's no way we're getting a dog unless it's a really big, mean dog.
A big thank you to those who made it out to our Darkroom show. It was all a little rough - the weather was horrid and I think it really affected the overall turnout. Our set was a little rough, which only served notice that our upcoming tour is happening at a good time. I hate to see us get complacent with our shows but it's sort of inevitable with us on a steady diet of playing Darkroom every couple months.
Speaking of tour, we've confirmed a few dates already. I'll post all of the details soon. My old home, NY, wins the award for not f**king around and and booking us immediately upon hearing a couple tracks. In a perfect world, that's how things will continue to go. Oh, and gas will be .62 cents a gallon by time we hit the road. That may be asking too much!
If Lauren and I were Japanese, we'd be this. this
