We need a steady hand at the what? I was watching the presidential debate tonight on one of those fancy moving picture machines. It was mostly balderdash and tomfoolery but there were a few interesting moments. Obama isn't quite Bill Clinton in the town meeting format but I doubt anyone ever will be. He's still a great presence. I was considering loading up the kid and driving to Indianapolis tomorrow (to see Obama speak) but I'm bogged down with work. Senator McCain is starting to show signs of desperation. It makes me kind of sad, how patriotic he is. I used to have a guitarist who said things like "these colors don't run." It reminds me of that. You know, playing air guitar while Rome is burning and completely ignoring reality.

It's raining this afternoon. Rather nice, actually. It hasn't been a terrible summer but I'm looking forward to some colder weather. My girl gets to wear a bunch of new clothes in the fall and winter. That is what excites me these days.

Catherine and I spent all weekend clearing out our "junk room" (you guessed it, a room full of junk) and turning it, officially, into Ella's playroom. It's nice. We actually feel kind of moved in. We have about 4 more boxes to unpack, all books. I can't believe we've been here for almost 9 months.

I'm slammed lately with work, a very good thing. Now that I'm not dead broke I should probably figure out how to prevent last year from happening to us all over again.

This financial crisis is kind of stressing me out. I'm remembering a conversation I had with my friend Ned before he left to Vietnam. We were just wondering aloud how many fucking hedgefund managers are out there - since there seem to be a lot of occupied $800,000+ condos in the area. Well, that question has been answered, soundly. Now, I'm just having trouble believing there are so many stupid people in the world. I've always had those troubles. This is, of course, 50% the fault of the people setting the bar for the housing market. But much, much, more so the fault of people buying with adjustable rate or zero interest loans. Not everyone can live the dream. Not everyone needs to maximize. I'm very happy we bought something we can afford. I'm very upset that our government wants me to help the dumbfucks next door who didn't.

Lots going on in Atomica Project-land.

In my continued writing of the next record, the next EP, whatever it turns out to be - I've decided to slow down and a put a bit of study time in. Don't get me wrong, I like what we've done thus far with Grayscale and Metropolitan. I want the songs to stand a bit on their own a tiny bit more before they get all polished up and produced. I'm not writing them on an acoustic or anything silly like that, but I want them all to stand as piano-vocal tracks before we get into the fancy shit.

Yeah, you guessed it. A tour is in the works. It won't be happening until next spring, so holding your breath is not recommended - but it is happening. Cleveland (probably), D.C., Philadelphia, New York - both Brooklyn and Manhattan, Boston, and a couple stops along the way. And of course, Chicago. We need to shore up some details but the booking and promoting are under way as I type. If that goes well, we'll consider the West Coast. If that goes well, we'll consider Europe and so on.

Now that Lauren is all married and whatnot, do I need to change her last name in all the band info? That's a rhetorical question. Our manager suggested we use Lauren C. since her new last name indeed starts with the letter C.
