The reason Chicago will never, and I mean never, approach the status of being a legitimately great city is very simple. Racism, and the inability of people of different cultures to live together. Many other cities have figured this out - even if they can't live up to the ideals of a multicultural city, people try. Chicago, on the other hand, is just fucked up beyond repair. It's my home now, but it's fucked up.

It's been a crazy few weeks. The Sensuous Enemy crew has spent the last 3 weekends recording their record here (here, as in - in my condo). I've been exporting the wife and child out to the suburbs on the weekends - and now, I'm in the midst of mixing the record. Anyone who knows how much time I spend staring at 64th notes, knows that in itself involves a lot of work and very little sleep for me. So there it is. I will have recorded and mixed a record, without compromise, in 5 weeks total. I'd like to make that my new standard. 5 weeks max.
I'm currently working on a job I lost at the very last second a few years ago. It's for the Crime and Investigation Network. They have really cool graphics and usually like interesting music, so that's a plus. It was one of those jobs where I was told I won, only to have it stripped from me at the very last second. But what goes around, they're now updating their existing music.
What else. I love my new pimped out studio. The booth is great, the preamp is great. Over the last 3 weeks I've had 2 drives either die or be killed and like 5 sata cables get loose and funky on me. That means it's time to start looking at new motherboards and Intel Core 2 Quad Processors and hoping that Santa Claus has been drinking this year.
Dean and I will have a business/music related announcement in a few weeks here, something I've been meaning to do for some time. There is also a new Bounte record making its way onto my computer. I've started, officially, working on a new digital only EP for Atomica Project. We'll have something new by the end of the year, that's about all I know at this point. I hope to condense the Milkfish record down to an EP by years end. The problem with Milkfish is it requires hours and hours of experimental tweaking. Hours and hours that I don't have.
And lastly, stay tuned for a show announcement for mid-October, I'll post that within the week.
