I just read a nice Op-Ed piece in the New York Times. As usual, Obama is so on point that it almost as though I have a voice, a say in the matter.
I just did an interview for There's Nothing Quite Like the Blinding Light. You can check it out here.
I’m back on my never going out ever again kick. It might be a little more serious this time. Of course, only time can tell. It should be pretty clear to everyone who reads this blog that I’m completely wishy-washy when it comes to this stuff. I have a lot of friends that I only have the opportunity to see when I go out. And as a musician/producer/what have you, going out to shows is one of the only ways I actually meet new people. But between being the stereotypical Irish and being a stereotypical artist .. Let’s just say I’m very tired of being so f*ing tragic.
Today was a great day. I’ve decided to resume the athletic career I gave up when I was 15. I was a very good basketball player and probably could have gone on to play in college had I not discovered drugs and left home. Anyway, I’ve started running in the morning and I’m going to join some kind of white people after work b-ball affair down at the park district gym. Should be fun.
I also, after years of wanting to and finding reasons not to, picked up a great mic preamp. Between that, my growing mic arsenal, and the ability to put a “real” booth in this apartment – the trips to NYC to record Lauren have become unnecessary. And it’s as easy as her driving a few miles for us to record. For those of you in the tech world I got an API 500 lunchbox with an Avedis MA5.
I’ve been putting a ton of work into this big pile of dust we call home. The kitchen has been done for some time, the hallway is finally done, the dining room is close behind. We bought some really nice blinds when we first moved in and I finally got everything under control enough to put those up. They’re great, cool little solar blinds. I’m going to repaint a couple things, take a few months to get all of our junk organized, and then start tearing down walls to make an entirely new mess.
