A quick video session for The Making Of The Non Affair.

Yes, my annual awards blog has gone back to 15 seconds. Honestly, I messed that up last year. Seriously, anyone who thinks money = happiness can just blow me. It's been a disastrous year for me, professionally, yet I find myself with so many good memories.

So, here are mine.

1. Corey McCafferty screaming at Dean to stop snoring on tour. I wasn't even conscious for this, thanks Jameson, but it goes down as one of my all time favorite tour moments.

2. Lauren's mother prepping my suit for our Boston debut. I really like Lauren's mother, she exudes a genuine and comfortable warmth that most people simply cannot. If the world were made of Lauren's Mom, I wouldn't be the kind of person I am. I'd be a lot nicer and unguarded. Anyway, I showed up in Boston with a wrinkled mass of fabric and woke up to a well pressed authentic 1970's suit (custom made in Japan during someone's military stay.) I heard I was relatively easy on the eyes that night.

3. Selling out the Midway Cafe' on our 2nd tour, thanks in large part to our good friends Milquetoast and Co.

4. The first Beatserv sale. My good friend Chris Randall put us up on his very popular blog and we sold like hot cakes the first few days after launching. Honestly, I was expecting about 3 years of nothing.

5. The first 15 seconds of hearing Matt Cordier play Oh, So Quickly. I'm not wrong about people very often. I was wrong about Matt.

6. My daughter's first day of preschool.

7. Every time my wife finds the time to look in my direction. This is less often than you'd imagine. We both work very hard at what we do, and have little time, in this life against all odds that we've chosen.

Yeah, I know. I just couldn't whittle it down. It's my blog, so I get to grandstand a little bit. It's more like my favorite 1:45 of 2009.

So, take a minute our of your day and tell us all about your 15 favorite seconds of 2009.

We launched our Kickstarter funding page yesterday. I was floored by the initial response, there are obviously a lot more kind and generous people in the world than I'd imagined. I think working in the unreasonably competitive field of music for so long has thoroughly tainted my views on humanity. I mean, aside from the Randall's and the place I work(ed) in New York - it's a very cutthroat business. So you forget how amazingly supportive people can be in general. My heart is a little warmer today than the day before, thank you. If this music thing doesn't work out, maybe I'll go into fundraising. It's a good feeling to be supported and to be around people with a capacity for giving. Note to self: Acoustic version of Quiver for Nick, we don't care if he didn't choose any rewards. Also, relearn how to play acoustic guitar. I haven't picked one up on about 3 years.

For those of you who don't know about this Kickstarter business - it's a site for artists, photographers, writers, musicians, etc. to fund their work. There are a lot of people who care about and value the arts, and a lot of creative people out there doing interesting work. This brings them together. We're hoping to fund the release of our next record, the Non Affair, through funding from our fans and friends. In exchange, you get a variety of "rewards," - anything from a signed copy of the album when it comes out, to a night out drinking with us (watch out, L will drink you under the table.)
