Dave and Jean (Dave who works with wtii records and Jean his girlfriend and occasional Ella babysitter) had a Birthday event @ the Darkroom on Sunday. I did the sound for i:scintilla so I was going regardless, but wow, it was a fun night. The Iris boys stopped by before leaving for their upcoming tour, always cool to see Ned, Andrew, and Reagan. You can tell they’re absolutely excited about this tour. Iris is one of the few bands that I can honestly say – they made a fan out of me. I have a lot of taint, and I fully understand what 99.9% of bands are doing. Iris has a chemistry that’s very difficult to pin down. Anyway, they’re playing on March 20th.
Go see them.
Dean and his girl also stopped in with some Big News. I’ll let him break that on the Bounte blog, if he cares to. Dean has been obsessively helping me out on the new Flagrant store. We’ll launch that bad boy in a couple weeks. It’s looking great and has uber functionality.
I ended up hanging out with Jim and Britt from i:scintilla during the wee hours of the night at a small bar called the Continental, an after hours staple in Chicago. Memory gets a little fuzzy but I’m pretty sure they got into it about the abstract concept of fidelity while I sipped whiskey and nearly fell asleep. I remember walking home (I live right up the block from the Continental) though I’m not too sure if it was an announced departure, and I do know for a fact that the Continental still has my credit card. Ooops.
