“1-2-yup, 1-2-yup.” Those words have a special meaning to me. I’m sure they ring true for Chris as well, since him and I sat in a Washington D.C. nightclub listening to some sound guy “tune the room” for over 3 hours using nothing more than that simple phrase. I mean seriously, if you’re going to spend 3 hours doing that shit – atleast come up with a haiku. Something. Anyway, that very same sound guy was in Detroit this weekend. Turns out he’s a pretty nice guy and was very easy to work with even if his room eq was nothing more than a big smiley face. I use a lot of midrange tricks and compression to get Ned’s vocals to cut through the mix. This weekend they didn’t really apply since the entire system had NO midrange. But I’m rambling. It was a good trip, Stromkern was great. This was the last show I have scheduled working with them, but we’ll see what happens once their new album comes out.
I have no actual work on my plate this week which bodes well for Atomica fans. Maybe I can finish these last 2 tracks . .
i finally got a hold of jamal - he's going to lay down some new, updated tracks for "this." pretty exciting. he's been doing great, he's a regular on the commercial hip hop stations in seattle as well as doing some spots on as the MC on TRL select for MTV. this guy was _the_ atomica MC back when Markus and I first started out with the concept, so it's pretty cool to be back in touch. We had much more of a Roni Size approach to things back then, and you'll hear that on this track, I'm sure.
Okay, now I'm off to Detroit. If you're in the area, come say Hi and check out Stromkern!
