Um. I'm sure I've mentioned a few times how I haven't worked at all this year, save for a few production jobs. It's time to start selling shit. I hate doing this, but it's really my only option at this point. I really don't like eBay so I'll list these fine items here first. If you're interested, just email me.
SOLD!
Next, and hopefully last - A Rode NT4 stereo mic. I've barely used this at all. I used it for overheads a few times in bigger venues on the Chemlab/USSA tour. In perfect condition, $300.
So, save me from eBay. Save me from going, like, out of business.
The good news is that the mixes for our new EP, Overseas, are coming along very well. What we clearly developed as "our" sound on 1st, has gotten even stronger. There are only 4 songs on this EP, but I struggle to find a weak moment in any of them. The other news is - I haven't been able to track down the girl who played cello on our last record. Luckily for us, my friend Mike (of Machines of Loving Grace fame) is going to help us out. While this does mean we have to delay the release of the EP for a week or so, it ensures the type of musical depth we need to pull this off. I love our first 2 CD's but having done live cello on the last record, I can never go back to the midi stuff. It'll be worth the wait. In exchange for your patience - here are some tour dates:
Wed, Sept 9 - Danbury, CT - Subrosa Party
Thurs, Sept 10 - Washington DC/Philadelphia - TBA
Fri, Sept 11 - Boston - TBA
Sat, Sept 12 - New York, NY - Arlene's Grocery
Sun, Sept 13 - Pittsburgh, PA - TBA
Thurs, Sept 17 - Madison, WI - Forward Music Festival
Excuse my lack of updates. It's been a busy few weeks. My industry, that being the commercial music industry, has completely collapsed this year. That means I no longer make the big dollars with a minimal amount of time. I've been whittled down to 2 income streams. 1. Recording and producing bands and 2. Beatserv. While I enjoy both of these, both of them require a lot more of my time. On top of that, we pulled Ella out of Negative Land (her daycare) so my responsibilities with her have almost doubled. And when I am at my studio in the evenings, there's this absolutely horrid, inconsiderate band that practices beneath me. I'm sort of just holding my breath on all fronts, things will get better in time.
In spite of all those obstacles, we're rolling right along with our new EP and the plans for our September tour. Lauren and I will be recording a couple tracks tomorrow and assuming all goes well, you will have another EP by July 20th.
